Shocking Twist: DCI Cars Dump Bodies of Kenyan Taxi Driver And Two Indian Nationals in Aberdares, Court Reveals
A witness informed the court that in July 2022, official vehicles were employed to track, apprehend, and remove the remains of a Kenyan cab driver and two Indian citizens in Aberdares National Park, Nyeri County.
Fifteen individuals, including thirteen personnel from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), are currently on trial for their alleged involvement in the disappearance of Mohamed Zaid Sami, Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan, and their chauffeur, Nicodemus Mwania Mwange.
During a court session at Kahawa Law Courts in Kiambu County on Tuesday, the witness stated that the vehicles were linked to the disbanded Special Services Unit (SSU) of the DCI.
He mentioned that a single vehicle, bearing the registration GKB 038U, was recorded in the vehicle tracking records as entering the Tree Tops entrance of the park at 6:34 pm on July 22, 2022, exceeding the designated park visiting hours of 6 am to 6 pm.
According to court testimony, the vehicle was not documented in the gate vehicle register book, as indicated by records obtained from Kenya Wildlife Service gate registers.
The witness stated that 20 mobile phones owned by the accused individuals were seized and submitted to the DCI for forensic examination before being transferred to the Communications Authority of Kenya for additional analysis.
They were subsequently transported to India for further examination aimed at acquiring additional insights into the events of the period when the three individuals were purportedly kidnapped.

One of the mobile devices displayed a conversation dated October 16 between Corporal John Mwangi Kamau and Corporal Joseph Mwenda Mbaya. In this exchange, Mbaya asked Kamau about the possibility of returning to the scene to resolve matters.
Kamau is seen to have responded “Tanki alienda,” referring to one of the accused persons.
Corporal Kamau and Corporal Mbaya are accused alongside Chief Inspector Peter Muthee Gachiku, Inspector James Kibosek Tanuki, Corporals Joseph Kamau Mbugua, David Chepchieng Kipsoi, Hillary Limo Kipchumba, Constables Stephen Luseno Matunda, Simon Muhuga Gikonyo, Paul Njogu Muriithi, Boniface Otieno Mtulla, Elikana Njeru Mugendi, Fredrick Thuku Kamau, as well as John Wanjiku Macharia and Michael Kiplangat Bett.
The 15 are charged with abduction with intent to murder; conspiracy to commit a felony; subjecting a person to cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment; and committing cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment.
They are also facing charges of cooperating in the execution of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment and forgery.
It’s reported that Mr. Sami and Mr. Khan came to Kenya in April 2022 to become part of Deputy President William Ruto’s ICT campaign team for the August 2022 General Election.
They disappeared on July 25 following their abduction outside the Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi.
The case is set for further hearing on June 20.
