Shocking Rejection at Kisii Church: Women Kicked Out ‘for Wearing Short Skirts and Trousers’
In Romans 10:9-10, the Bible encourages people to come as they are and embrace salvation. However, this message doesn’t seem to apply in a church in Kisii, where a group of youths faced rejection for what was considered improper clothing.
On a Thursday in Mugirango South, Kisii County, several young women attending a prayer meeting at St. Peter and Paul Parish Etago were asked to leave.
The church’s leadership, led by a cleric named Benjamin Ndemo, condemned their attire, saying it violated the church’s customs and standards for dressing.
The prayer meeting was designed for young people and aimed to teach them about the Christian faith, focusing on the proper way to live according to Biblical teachings.
However, the event took an unexpected turn when some attendees were told that their clothing was inappropriate for the occasion.

Cleric Ndemo explained that it was important for both men and women to follow certain behavioral standards, which included how they dressed. He stressed that indecent dress was not acceptable, as it went against the church’s values and customs.
His statement highlighted the belief that the way people present themselves is important, and it should reflect the right conduct.
This incident raises questions about the balance between welcoming individuals as they are and upholding the traditions and expectations of religious institutions.
Despite the Bible’s message of acceptance, the church’s decision to turn away attendees based on their appearance suggests a conflict between inclusivity and the desire to maintain a certain standard of behavior.
