Shocking: Police Officer Fires 30 Rounds in Bar Fight Over a Woman
A night of enjoyment and celebration at the Imperial Lounge in Yatta, Machakos County, took a shocking turn in the early hours of Friday morning when a police officer opened fire following a heated disagreement over a woman.
The officer, identified as Police Constable Fredrick Kipchoge from Matuu Police Station, created a scene at the lounge around 2:40 a.m. The incident was serious enough to prompt one of the employees at the establishment to contact the authorities.
According to the police report later shared with Citizen Digital, officers rushed to the scene to address the matter. However, Kipchoge had already left the premises by the time they arrived, apparently aware that law enforcement was on its way.ย ย
A few hours later, at approximately 5:25 a.m., Kipchoge returned to Matuu Police Station. At this point, he accessed the reports office and seized an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition.
The firearm had been assigned to another officer for patrol duties, but Kipchoge took it without authorization. Armed with the weapon, he made his way back to the Imperial Lounge, escalating an already tense situation.
The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and several other officers followed Kipchoge to the lounge to prevent further trouble. Once they arrived, they confronted him and questioned his intentions.

In response, Kipchoge claimed that he wanted to apprehend a man who, according to him, had “stolen” his girlfriend. His statements indicated a mix of personal grievances and misuse of his professional authority.
As the officers tried to de-escalate the situation, they moved cautiously to disarm him. However, this led to a chaotic confrontation during which Kipchoge fired all 30 rounds from the rifle.
Remarkably, despite the barrage of gunfire, no injuries were reported during the incident. After the commotion, the officers successfully subdued Kipchoge, disarmed him, and placed him under arrest.
Kipchoge was taken back to Matuu Police Station and put into custody while awaiting further action. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Yatta has since launched a detailed investigation into the events of that night.
Authorities aim to determine what exactly transpired, including how Kipchoge gained access to the weapon and why he resorted to such extreme measures over a personal dispute.
