Shock as Prime Suspect in Kware Murders Escapes from Gigiri Police Station
The primary suspect in the Kware murders, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, has escaped from the Gigiri Police Station.
Jumaisi was among 13 individuals who broke free from the police facility.
The remaining 12 escapees are Eritrean nationals.
The breakout occurred on Tuesday morning.
Authorities discovered the escape when they went to wake the suspects for their morning tea.
The fugitives had cut through a wire mesh that was part of the cell security and scaled a perimeter wall to flee.
DCI Director Mohamed Amin confirmed the escape and announced that a renewed search for Jumaisi is underway.
“Regrettably, this incident occurred, but we are actively pursuing the matter,” he stated.
Senior police officials quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

Jumaisi, a high-priority suspect, was being held at the station pending his court appearance on Friday.
Last Friday, police were granted an additional seven days to detain Jumaisi and two other suspects, Amos Momanyi and Moses Ogembo, in connection with the Kware murders.
Jumaisi reportedly confessed to killing up to 42 women, though he has denied the allegations.
The suspects had been presented before Makadara Principal Magistrate Irine Gichobi, where the prosecution requested a 21-day detention period.
After reviewing the case, the court decided that Jumaisi, the primary suspect, would be held at Gigiri Police Station for an additional seven days.
Momanyi and Ogembo will be detained at Muthaiga Police Station for seven days, with the case scheduled for mention on August 26.
The investigating officer informed the court that six victims have been identified from body parts found in a quarry, and charges are expected to be brought against the suspects once the Director of Public Prosecutions reviews the files.
