Senator Joe Nyutu- President Ruto’s Reception in Nyanza Was Scripted to Humiliate Gachagua
Senator Joe Nyutu from Murang’a has alleged that the lavish welcome President William Ruto received during his tour of Kisumu County was intentionally staged to belittle Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Nyutu contends that there is a scheme to undermine DP Gachagua and that Ruto’s engagement with the Nyanza region was meant to intensify this effort.
“From the perspective of Mount Kenya residents, it was evident that the political events were orchestrated to humiliate the Deputy President,” Nyutu remarked during an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday.
The senator also referenced comments made by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed during Ruto’s visit.
Nyutu suggested that the remarks from Wanga and Mohamed were intentionally disparaging towards DP Gachagua.
“Gladys Wanga and Junet Mohamed were deliberate in suggesting that there were also some mountains to diminish the Deputy President’s stature,” he said.
He compared the current political situation to a marriage that has shifted from monogamy to polygamy.

Nyutu emphasized that despite their support for incorporating opposition voices into the government, Mt. Kenya leaders will remain vigilant and ready to flag any suspicious developments.
“We are carefully monitoring whether this will lead to the marginalization of the Mount Kenya region, but we remain firmly supportive of William Ruto, knowing he entered this political arrangement after thorough consultation,” Nyutu stated.
“He consulted with us, and we agreed that forming an inclusive government was essential.”
President Ruto’s visit to the region followed his appointments of ODM leaders to key Cabinet positions, including John Mbadi (Treasury), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy), Wycliffe Oparanya (MSMEs), and Hassan Joho (Mining).
This move aligns with DP Gachagua’s ongoing criticism of the opposition, as he rallies Mt. Kenya leaders to back him and claims there is a plot to persuade President Ruto to sideline him.
“I observed Governor Wanga entering a car used by the president and speaking to a crowd from the sunroof. She will gradually learn how to navigate such scenarios,” Gachagua remarked during Ruto’s tour of Nyanza.
