Salgaa Erupts in Protests Over Shocking Pub Deaths
Tuesday evening witnessed violent confrontations between police and members of the public in the Salgaa center of Nakuru County.
Protesters took to the streets in response to the death of two individuals in a local tavern, which was suspected of involving the consumption of illegal brews.
Wilberforce Sacharani, commander of the Rongai Sub-county police, stated that the initial unidentified corpse was discovered early Tuesday morning, and the second victim died that evening of chest congestion.
In an interview with Chamgei FM, former Salgaa civic leader Joshua Cheruiyot, and Salgaa Business community chairperson Livingstone Sawe stated that an unidentified male was the first to pass away early in the morning, followed by a female individual who passed away in the evening at the same establishment.
“It is shocking that even after the death of the person in the morning, they still went ahead with their business unfazed”, he said.

Claiming that the proprietor of the pub owns multiple bars in the vicinity, he is accused of dealing in hazardous alcoholic beverages.
“We blame the local police for their laxity in cracking the whip on the owners of these pubs who are engaging in the business in total disregard of the health regulations”, he added.
Hillary Marindany demanded that a portion of the licenses issued to bar proprietors who violate the law and endanger the lives of county residents be revoked by the county government.
He demanded the transfer of several senior officers from Salgaa to instill the officers with new leadership in preparation for challenging missions.
During the protests on Tuesday evening, members of the community stoned police as they removed the second corpse. An hour passed during the exchange before the cadaver being removed.
