Sabina Chege’s iPhone 14 Goes Missing Amid Parliament Chaos; Appeals to DP Gachagua for Assistance

Sabina Chege, a nominated member of parliament, claims that her iPhone 14 was stolen during the chaos that erupted in Parliament on Thursday, following a decision by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula to retain her as Deputy Minority Whip.

Friday at the inaugural Coffee Conference in Meru County, Chege pleaded with those who stole her phone to return it to her. She also asked Deputy President Rigathi, who organized the event, to assist her in recovering the phone.

“In addition to beating me, they then stole my phone. It is an iPhone 14, and Your Excellency, our Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, I request your assistance so I can recover it. “Please return the phone to me if you stole it,” she pleaded.

On the day of the incident, MPs from both sides of the House began insulting one another after the Speaker’s ruling, leading to a fistfight that allegedly resulted in Chege being struck with a bottle.

The Speaker was compelled to suspend the session for 15 minutes to allow the room to calm down, but jeering continued even after the session resumed.

Wetangula was forced to suspend seven members of parliament for periods ranging from two sittings to two weeks after the ensuing melee.

MPs Millie Odhiambo, Rosa Buyu, Sabina Chege, and TJ Kajwang will be absent from the House for two weeks, while Fatuma Muyanzi, Catherine Omanyo, and Joyce Kamene will be absent for five days and two sittings, respectively.

Wetangula ruled, “The aforementioned members, among other things, disobeyed a ruling of the Speaker, made disruptive remarks, used violence against a member of the house, and acted to the grave detriment of the dignity of the house.”
