Ruto’s Mother Covers Reporter with ‘Shuka’ Over Dress Length
Thursday, a journalist was forced to leave an event, rush home, and change her attire. After drawing the ire of President Ruto’s mother Sarah Cheruiyot for her attire.
Zipporah Achieng, a 22-year-old camerawoman for one of the local stations. Became the unwitting star of the event where Governor Jonathan Bii of Uasin Gishu was distributing title deeds to local farmers.
Achieng was stunned to see the First Mother stand up, approach her, and wrap a ‘Maasai shuka’ around her waist. In full view of everyone present.
“Mama Sarah came to the event, sat down, didn’t even stand for the national anthem, and didn’t even stand for the prayers, but she stood up and walked directly to me. Achieng told Citizen Digital, “I couldn’t believe it, but my parents taught me to respect the elderly.”
“After she gave me the Masaai shuka and gave me a warm embrace, I felt the need to go home and change into something else.”
After the incident, Sarah explained what had transpired and why she had acted as she did.
“When I arrived, I saw my daughter wearing a short dress, and I thought to myself, if her camera falls and she bends to pick it up, she will have no protection. “I left my seat to cover her with my shuka,” explained the president’s mother.

“We were instructed that a woman should never leave the house without a leso… You may encounter an expectant mother who is about to give birth and have nothing to offer her.”
Mama Sarah, who was amused by the situation as a whole. Asked the journalist to take it in a positive light and not believe she had unfairly targeted her.
“I am blessing you, my daughter, so don’t say your grandmother came to disturb me, because I was blessing you,” she said.
Achieng did respond positively, stating that Mama Sarah is similar to her grandmother.
The young journalist added, “I took it very positively, considering she is almost the same age as my grandmother, and the fact that she did what she did demonstrates her concern.”
After changing into a blue power suit from a grey shiny dress. Achieng went directly to where Ruto’s mother was seated, shook her hand, and apologized to the grandmother. Who was ecstatic that she heeded her advice.
“She told me I looked good after I changed,” Achieng says with a chuckle.
“She smiled and whispered, ‘You’re a good girl,’ before taking my phone number; I hope she will be my mentor.”
