Nakuru: 13 People Killed as Truck Rams into PSV Matatu at Migaa Black Spot Near Salgaa

Thirteen people have died in a tragic road accident at the Migaa black spot on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The crash happened on Friday at around 2 AM and involved a matatu and a trailer carrying coffee seeds.

According to preliminary reports, the trailer was heading to Eldoret when its brakes failed, causing the driver to lose control. The truck then rammed into the matatu, trapping all passengers inside.

Sadly, all the matatu passengers and two people from the trailer died on the spot. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but they could not save any lives.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary for autopsy and further investigation.

Police Warn Motorists to Be Cautious

National Police Service Spokesperson Michael Muchiri urged drivers to be extra careful when approaching the Migaa area.

โ€œThat area is a known black spot, and we urge motorists to be cautious when approaching it,โ€ said Muchiri.

Red Cross Provides Support for Families

The Kenya Red Cross has set up a tracing and psychosocial support desk at the Molo Sub-County Hospital Funeral Home. This will help families of the victims cope with their loss and trauma.

โ€œWe have set up a tracing and psychosocial support (PSS) desk at Molo Sub-County Hospital Funeral Home to help affected families. Our thoughts are with them,โ€ stated the Red Cross.

Another Road Accident Claims Life of Foreign National

In a separate incident, a foreign national lost his life on Thursday in a road accident on Ngong Road. The victim was hit by a vehicle from President William Rutoโ€™s convoy while crossing the road near Adams Arcade.

The President was heading to Kibra for a tour when the accident happened. Police have launched investigations and are urging witnesses to provide information.

โ€œFollowing a road accident at Adams Arcade along Ngong Road involving a government vehicle, the National Police Service (NPS) has taken over the matter, and investigations are ongoing,โ€ NPS said in a statement.

Authorities continue to urge road users to exercise caution to prevent such tragic incidents.
