RUTO’s government ensuring you pay all taxes

There will be no more privacy or escape as RUTO’s government will monitor your mobile money transactions in real-time to ensure you pay all taxes.

Tax evaders will have nowhere to hide as the government plans to monitor Kenyans’ mobile money transactions in real-time to ensure they pay all taxes without cheating.

This follows President William Ruto’s directive on November 21, 2022, to government agencies to broaden the country’s tax bracket to collect more money for government projects.

In response, Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u issued a draft 2023 Budget Policy Statement aimed at closing tax loopholes.

Treasury outlined measures in the draft 2023 Budget Policy Statement that will force tax evaders to pay their fair share.

“As part of the economic turnaround plan, the government will increase revenue collection efforts to Ksh 3.0 trillion in FY 2023/24 and Ksh 4.0 trillion in the medium term.

“Close monitoring of government payments will be done accordingly to ensure correct taxes are declared and paid,” the draft 2023 Budget Policy Statement stated.

To achieve this goal, government agencies responsible for tax collection and enforcement will be able to monitor mobile money transactions.

To enable surveillance, the government intends to integrate mobile money systems within the domains of telecommunication companies with tax collection and enforcement agencies.

The Treasury is working on measures to arrest taxes lost in the counterfeit business in the draft 2023 Budget Policy Statement.

Members of the National Police Service (NPS), the National Intelligence Service (NIS), and other agencies will make better use of the information available to them.

The Treasury is confident that government agencies will comply with a presidential directive to expand the national tax bracket.
