Former Bumula Member of Parliament Moses Wekesa has been appointed as the Chairman of the Non-Governmental Organisation Coordination Board by President William Ruto.

According to the Gazette Notice, Ruto revoked the appointment of Gichira Kibaara, who served on the same board as Wekesa during the administration of Uhuru Kenyatta.

Wekesa’s appointment as the head of the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) was also revoked, which is an interesting development. He had been in the role for seven months.

Wekesa’s tenure as board head of the NGO will span three years.

In contrast, Moses Njenga Chege succeeded Wekesa as the leader of the IRA.

Uhuru appointed Kibaara as chairman of the board in 2018 and reappointed him in 2021.ย

In addition, Water CS Alice Wahome revoked Johnstone Kang’ethe Kinyua’s appointment as a member of the Athi Water Works Development Agency’s Board of Directors.

Susan Nakhumicha, secretary of state for health, reappointed him to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Institute of Primate Research.

Valentine Khaminwa, daughter of seasoned attorney John Khaminwa, was also appointed as a member of the Council of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

Three-year terms will be served by Valentine, John Wambui, and Kizito Chesesio.ย
