Ruto Sacks Uhuru Appointee, Hires Ex-MP

Former Bumula Member of Parliament Moses Wekesa has been appointed as the Chairman of the Non-Governmental Organisation Coordination Board by President William Ruto.

According to the Gazette Notice, Ruto revoked the appointment of Gichira Kibaara, who served on the same board as Wekesa during the administration of Uhuru Kenyatta.

Wekesa’s appointment as the head of the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) was also revoked, which is an interesting development. He had been in the role for seven months.

Wekesa’s tenure as board head of the NGO will span three years.

In contrast, Moses Njenga Chege succeeded Wekesa as the leader of the IRA.

Uhuru appointed Kibaara as chairman of the board in 2018 and reappointed him in 2021.
