Ruto, Raila, Uhuru Lead Kenyans in Mourning Hillside Endarasha Academy Fire Victims
President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and opposition leader Raila Odinga have extended their condolences to the families of the victims of the fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy, Nyeri, which tragically claimed at least 17 lives.
President Ruto emphasized swift action, urging authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly to ensure accountability.
“Our thoughts are with the families affected by the fire tragedy at Hillside Endarasha Academy. We hope for the speedy recovery of the survivors,” said the President.
Deputy President Gachagua called on schools to enhance security protocols to prevent future tragedies.
“We pray for the swift recovery of survivors. May God provide comfort to the bereaved families. Schools must implement safety measures outlined by the Ministry of Education to avoid such incidents,” Gachagua stated.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta also shared his condolences, expressing sorrow for the loss of young lives filled with promise.
“The loss of young, hopeful lives is an indescribable pain. My heart goes out to the families and the school community affected by this unimaginable tragedy,” he said.
Raila Odinga echoed similar sentiments, expressing condolences and wishing the injured a speedy recovery. Reports indicate that 14 students suffered severe burns and were hospitalized.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the families and friends affected by the devastating fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy. I wish the injured a swift recovery,” Odinga noted.
Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi emphasized the immense toll the tragedy takes on the entire community.
“The whole nation grieves the loss of 16 young souls, with many others injured in the fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy,” she said.
“As a mother, I feel the overwhelming grief of the affected families. This tragedy is unbearable, and my heart aches for each family facing this loss.”
Sports CS Kipchumba Murkomen also expressed his sorrow, offering condolences and hoping for a quick recovery for the survivors.
“I am heartbroken by the news of the fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy that claimed the lives of 16 students. My prayers and condolences go out to the affected families and school community,” he said.
The National Police Service Spokesperson, Resila Onyango, confirmed that police teams were dispatched to assist with rescue efforts and investigations are ongoing.
