Ruto PS’s Dad Passes Away
Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni announced the death of her father, Philip Miriuki Ngari, on Thursday.
In her message, the PS revealed that her father had been unwell for several months before his passing.
“I’m writing to share some sorrowful news. Some of you may recall that my father had been gravely ill and was in the hospital for the last couple of months. We managed to bring him home, though he required constant oxygen,” the PS stated.
While sharing this tragic update, the PS mentioned that she had spent time with her father on Wednesday evening, just before his unexpected passing.
“I regret to inform you that he has sadly passed away. Yesterday evening, I spent some time with him, unaware that it would be my last opportunity to see him alive. May you rest in peace, Papa,” she added.
Upon hearing the sad news, other leaders expressed their condolences through social media platforms.

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru, also the Chairperson of the Council of Governors, sent a supportive message to the PS, offering her emotional support during this challenging time.
“I extend my deepest condolences to my dear friend and sister, PS Muthoni, on the loss of her father, Mr. Phillip Muriuki Ngari. No words can truly convey the heartache of losing a parent, and I share in your sorrow during this incredibly difficult time,” she stated.
“May the Lord’s peace comfort you, and may you find strength in the love of family and friends. Rest in peace, Mzee Phillip,” she added.
Muriuki passed away on Wednesday evening in Kirinyaga County following a prolonged illness, according to family information.
Muthoni’s family has yet to release a statement regarding the arrangements following their father’s passing.
Muthoni, who has been serving as the Public Health and Professional Standards PS, has played a significant role in the government’s initiatives, particularly in the rollout of the new health insurance scheme, the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
