Ruto, Kindiki Told to Resign
Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has called for the immediate resignation of President William Ruto and his Deputy, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
In a strong statement released on July 9, Aukot, a former presidential hopeful, accused the Kenya Kwanza government of state-sponsored violence, ethnic discrimination, and serious human rights abuses.
Aukot claimed that the Ruto administration has become a brutal regime that uses violence against its own citizens instead of protecting them.
“Kenya is not being attacked by foreign enemies, but by its own leaders who have chosen violence over dialogue, guns over compassion, and fear over the Constitution,” the statement said.
The message, co-signed by Thirdway Alliance National Chairman Miruru Waweru, pointed to the recent abductions, torture, and killings of peaceful protestors, most of whom were young and unarmed.
The party accused the government of reacting to real public concerns—such as corruption, economic hardship, and unemployment—with deadly force and ethnic targeting.
Aukot also claimed the Ruto administration is targeting businesses and communities in the Mt. Kenya region, with increased police raids, biased arrests, and the spread of propaganda to divide Kenyans.

“This is a planned strategy to shift focus away from the real problems causing public outrage,” Aukot said. “You cannot fight poverty and public anger with bullets. You cannot respond to corruption claims by kidnapping citizens.”
The Thirdway Alliance also demanded the immediate sacking and prosecution of the Inspector General of Police and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for their roles in the violence.
The party further called for the creation of an independent international commission to investigate the killings, kidnappings, and ethnic profiling. They also asked for compensation for families affected by police brutality.
“We cannot allow leaders to stay in power by killing citizens. The Constitution must stand against tyranny, and Kenya should never bow to dictatorship disguised as leadership,” the statement added.
Aukot’s demands add to the growing pressure on President Ruto, following similar calls from other prominent leaders like Martha Karua, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and thousands of Kenyans. Many have also urged Members of Parliament to initiate an impeachment process against the President.
