Ruto Faces Demands for Transparent Raila Talks LIVE

President William Ruto is under increasing pressure to engage in dialogue with Azimio leader Raila Odinga, and his Kenya Kwanza allies want assurances that they will be kept abreast of ceasefire negotiations.

On Friday, July 28, the Majority Leader of the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung’wah, discouraged President William Ruto from holding covert discussions with Raila Odinga and advocated for a transparent process.

The member of parliament reiterated, during the Pemba Community citizenship award ceremony held at the Karisa Maitha stadium in Kilifi, that there was no need for a mediator, as the opposition had demanded.

Instead, a public forum would be optimal for gauging Azimio’s priorities and whether they are motivated by self-interest.

“If you receive two seats and a camera, and then broadcast the event live on television, we will be able to ensure that the issues you discuss are those that affect Kenyans.

“Invite them to a live, televised roundtable discussion.” He must address his concerns; is it lowering the cost of living or exposing the servers of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)?

Additionally, Kenya Kwanza politicians advocated for the live streaming of the discussions.

Aisha Jumwa, Cabinet Secretary for the Public Service, warned that she would only support the talks if Ruto refused to be coerced into sharing authority.

The former member of parliament for Malindi and close ally of Raila stated that voters who allowed him to serve and revive the economy will hold him accountable.

David Sankok, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly, offered to mediate on the condition that the discussions between Raila and Ruto be made public to avoid political blackmail, deceit, and fraud.

David Sankok, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly, stated that the opposition may demand a bribe to end protests.

Raila asserted on Tuesday, July 25 that Ruto declined to engage other African Presidents who offered to end his dispute with the president.

He stated that pro-government legislators thwarted the efforts of Tanzanian President Mama Samia Suluhu and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to broker peace.

“She endeavored to mediate, but the other party kept her waiting for days. Raila protested, “Our side was ready and available for negotiations, but the State refused to respond.”

The leader of the opposition emphasized that he would only negotiate in the presence of a third-party mediator.

“He cannot be trusted because he constantly changes his statements. Therefore, I insist that they serve as a mediator between us. Raila demanded, “I am willing to talk if there is a mediator between us.”

State House declined to issue a forceful statement in response to rumors that Ruto invited Mama Suluhu to visit Kenya.

In an interview with GossipA2Z, spokesperson Hussein Mohamed argued that Raila was in a better position to discuss the details of the visit.
