Ruto Delivers: Gachagua Highlights Kept Promises in 8 Months

Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua enumerated the eight-month-old accomplishments of President William Ruto’s campaign pledges.

While attending a Thanksgiving event in Nyandarua County with his boss, the DP listed the commitments.

When the second-in-command approached the podium, he appeared angry about media reports claiming that Ruto had made empty promises.

He accused the media of misreporting Ruto’s accomplishments and turning a blind eye to them.

“They (Nation) continue to leave in denial. “Listen to the accomplishments and promises kept by the president in only eight months,” Gachagua said.

1 Ruto appointed and swore in Court of Appeal judges that former President Uhuru Kenyatta had refused to name.

2 Gachagua noted that Ruto had allocated Ksh 4 billion to the Judiciary in the budget policy statement (BPS).

To fulfill his promise to increase the independence of the Judiciary, he took this action.

3 The DP noted that the President had granted the National Police Service (NPS) financial autonomy.

He stated that this was done to ensure the police department’s independence.

4 Digitization of almost 5,000 government services, up from 320 services currently.

5 According to him, Ruto appointed the Presidential Working Group on Education Reforms to address the challenges posed by the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Gachagua noted that this was a fulfillment of a previously made promise.

6 The Democratic Party highlighted that Ruto had resolved the issue of university reforms. Ruto unveiled university reforms on May 3, which included a new funding model, to alleviate the debt burden of higher education institutions.

7 Gachagua highlighted Ruto’s accomplishments in realizing affordable housing by stating, “In just eight months, the president has erected 36,000 housing units.”

8 The former Mathira lawmaker added that the president had distributed milk coolers to dairy farmers across the nation.

9 He noted that the Hustler Fund was one of Ruto’s administration’s successes. “As we speak, more than Ksh24 billion has been lent to the people of Kenya,” stated Gachagua.

10 Gachagua emphasized that Ruto unlocked stalled road construction projects by paying contractors so that the projects could be completed.

11 He praised Ruto for reducing the price of a two-kilogram packet of maize flour from Ksh230 to between Ksh150 and Ksh180, depending on where the customer purchases the product.

12 As promised, he stated that Ruto had implemented public sector reforms.

Gachagua explained that chiefs are no longer used for political purposes, but instead work for the benefit of the people, such as the elimination of illicit alcohol.

13 Gachagua stated that, contrary to his campaign promises, the president does not use the criminal justice system to restrict political freedom.

14 In the past eight months, the president has visited 39 of the 47 counties.

This was so he could meet the people and interact with them as promised.

15 He stated that the president had supplied drought-stricken regions with food.

16 He noted that the Kenya Kwanza administration employed the greatest number of teachers in a single fiscal year with 35,000 teachers.

“Your Excellency, you have made too many promises. “I have become confused,” he admitted, omitting the four other pledges.

One of the promises that the Kenya Kwanza administration has failed to keep, according to Kenyans, is to reduce the cost of living, as prices of essential goods have skyrocketed.
