Ruto Asserts: No More Violent Demos Under My Watch

On Sunday, President William Ruto stated that he would never permit acts of destructive demonstrations to occur within Kenya.

During a conversation on Inooro TV from Sagana, Ruto explained that he had to take that action to safeguard the interests of Kenya.

“I looked at myself and said apart from being the leader of the government, I’m the Head of State and my work is to protect Kenyans and their properties,” he said.

” And mark my words, maandamano ya vita, kuharibu mali na kusababisha vifo haitafanyika tena,” Ruto added.

The leader of the country clarified that he was taken aback by the fact that when he declined demonstrations, critics were objecting to the decision, stating that it would regress Kenya’s progress.

“Between me and those who are trying to divide Kenyans by these protests, who are really taking Kenya backward?” Ruto posed.

The President maintained his commitment to using all his authority to ensure the safety of the people of Kenya.

Previously, Ruto criticized the protests led by the Opposition that took place the previous month, stating that these demonstrations were damaging the image of Kenya. The President emphasized that the security of Kenya is something that cannot be compromised.

Ruto stated that he will not allow Kenya to be harmed through demonstrations during his time in charge.

“There are those who want to destroy Kenya, kill Kenyans and I will not allow that, it is not negotiable,” he said.

“Making sure that we are a secure nation is one thing we must all agree on, we can negotiate everything but not Kenya’s security.”

The Head of State clarified that he always speaks directly, referencing how he confidently stated that reggae would cease with the BBI (Building Bridges Initiative), and it indeed came to a halt. In the same manner, he asserted that there would be an end to demonstrations from now on.

“In politics and other things we can talk lakini vita ama kupiganisha watu na kuharibu mali, hapana, haitafanyika Kenya,” Ruto affirmed.
