President William Ruto has designated Benjamin Washiali, former representative of Mumias East in Parliament, as the Chair of the Tourism Regulatory Authority Board.

In a notice published in the gazette on Friday, March 15, Ruto stated that the appointment would last for three years, commencing immediately.

โ€œIn Exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 (1) (a) of the Tourism Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Benjamin Washiaji to be the Chairperson of the Board of the Tourism Regulatory Authority, for three (3) years,โ€ the Gazette notice reads.

The ex-member of Parliament, who is a trusted associate of the president, abandoned his political ambitions in 2022 to back Ruto during the election campaigns.

As a result, the leader of the country also annulled the designation of Halima Yussuf Mucheke, whom he had nominated on March 8, 2024, to serve as Kenya’s Ambassador to the Hague, Netherlands.

Silas Simatwo has been named as the Chairperson of the Digital Health Agency, with a tenure of three years, starting immediately.

In the identical Gazette announcement, Ruto acknowledged five Cabinet Secretaries (CS) for their exceptional and remarkable contributions to the country.
