Ruto Ally Unveils Secret Summit: Raila Meets Mt Kenya Leaders
Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri has disclosed that a significant meeting occurred between opposition leader Raila Odinga and key figures from Mount Kenya.
Kiunjuri explained that President William Ruto did not instigate this meeting.
“It is not Ruto who has sought Raila. It is we, as Mount Kenya representatives, who have approached Raila,” he remarked.
This statement highlights a unified effort by Mount Kenya leaders to connect with Odinga, potentially signaling strategic political moves in anticipation of the upcoming election.
This announcement arrives amid a period of intense political activity and realignment in Kenya, with leaders across the board working to solidify their support and build new partnerships.
Raila, a long-standing politician and leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has had a substantial impact on Kenyan politics for many years, known for his strong following and significant influence.

Kiunjuri’s comments come just a day after President Ruto appointed notable ODM members to his Cabinet, a move that caught some opposition leaders off guard.
Ruto stated that these appointments were part of his administration’s effort to form an inclusive Cabinet to fulfill his commitments to the Kenyan people.
In the latest round of Cabinet appointments, Ruto named John Mbadi to the Treasury, Ugunja MP James Opiyo Wandayi to the Energy sector, former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho to the Mining and Blue Economy ministry, and former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to oversee the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs Development.
Some ODM leaders have challenged these appointments, arguing that the party did not endorse the idea of its senior members joining the government.
On Inooro TV, the Mount Kenya leader suggested that visible discord within the ruling coalition has allowed the opposition leader to gain traction.
