Ruto Ally Farouk Kibet Describes Raila’s AUC Chairmanship as Gift From UDA
On Sunday, Farouk Kibet, the personal aide of President William Ruto, finally spoke out about the government’s stance on Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the African Union (AU) Commission Chairperson position within the Azimio leadership.
Addressing attendees at a fundraising event held at AIC Church in Tapsagoi, Uasin Gishu County, Farouk characterized the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) endorsement of the former Prime Minister as a gesture towards the opposition leader.
Farouk took advantage of the chance to refute the idea that the government supports Raila due to apprehension and as a strategy to gradually remove him from active politics in Kenya.
“This work, we are giving him is not because we fear him, we are giving it to him as a token, even God will see that we are kind as Kenyans,” stated Farouk.
Furthermore, Farouk clarified that the ruling coalition is no longer tolerating the opposition leader’s repeated allegations of being unfairly excluded after each electoral period.
Furthermore, Farouk claimed that John Mbadi, the Chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has been covertly involved in efforts to prevent his superior from attaining the prominent position at the helm of the African Union.

During his speech, Farouk urged Raila to revisit his actions and clarify the reasons and timing behind his reported fallout with loyal supporters like Mbadi.
“His people are at the forefront of opposing him, the likes of Mbadi do not want this man to go to the AU,” Farouk alleged.
These comments follow Ida Odinga’s statement expressing her preference for Mbadi as the successor to Raila in Luo Nyanza politics when Raila eventually steps back from the political arena.
Likewise, Farouk has accused Raila’s aides of sabotage, echoing the denial by Jeremiah Kioni, a close ally of former president Uhuru Kenyatta, who refuted claims that the ex-head of State supported Jakaya Kikwete over Raila for the AU seat.
Kioni highlighted that the ex-president is poised to use his influence in the area to secure support for Raila.
The ex-Ndaragwa Member of Parliament affirmed that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backing for Raila Odinga is unwavering.
