Ruto Allies Vow to Rig 2027 Polls for His Victory- “Hakuna mahali anaenda”
Allies of President William Ruto are signaling a determination to secure a second term for the president in the 2027 elections, raising concerns over potential manipulation of the electoral process.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has been vocal in asserting that President Ruto will not serve a single term, promising that they will do everything within their power to guarantee his re-election.
Speaking during a public rally, Sudi declared, “Wewe umewahi kusikia wapi mtu amekuwa rais term moja? Hakuna mahali Ruto anaenda… Hata kama hazitoshi, tutaongeza!”
The debate stems from sentiments expressed during President Ruto’s recent working tour of the North Rift.
These remarks were further echoed on Sunday when a group of MPs allied to the president, including Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek and Baringo North MP Joseph Makilap, attended a church service at Kiamunyi AIC in Rongai Constituency, Nakuru County.
The leaders expressed strong support for the president’s re-election, with Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot stating,
“It is our responsibility to uphold the tradition of two-term presidencies in this country.” Rongai MP Paul Chebor added, “We will do everything possible to secure the president’s second term.”
However, President Ruto distanced himself from the growing speculation. Speaking at the United Pentecostal Church in Dagoretti North Constituency, Nairobi, the head of state downplayed the comments, emphasizing his focus on delivering his agenda for the nation.

“I hear people talking about one term, two terms, and even third terms. For now, I am focused on my work,” President Ruto stated.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja echoed the president’s sentiments, urging patience and highlighting the need to allow Ruto time to fulfill his agenda.
“Let’s give Ruto time to work. He has only been in office for two years,” Sakaja remarked.
The conversation takes place amidst growing debate about constitutional limits on the presidency.
Tiaty MP William Kamket recently hinted at a possible proposal to extend the president’s tenure beyond the constitutionally mandated two terms of five years each.
Following the church service, President Ruto met with Nairobi County MCAs at State House, Nairobi, further emphasizing his commitment to focusing on governance and delivering on his promises to Kenyans.
The unfolding conversation signals the potential for heightened political tension as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections, even as the president maintains his focus on fulfilling his mandate.
