Russian Missile Attack on Kryvyi Rih Kills at Least 14, Including 6 Children

A Russian missile attack on the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih has left at least 14 people dead, including six children, and many more wounded. This tragic attack was confirmed by regional head Serhii Lysak, who reported the devastation caused by the strike.

Images from the scene have shown victims lying in a playground, which was cordoned off by police. Local authorities believe a ballistic missile struck a residential area in the heart of the city. Footage from the site also captured a 10-storey apartment building that had been severely damaged, with victims seen lying on the streets outside.

The attack is considered one of the deadliest on Kryvyi Rih since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The city, which has a population of around 600,000, was also hit earlier this week, when a building in the city center was struck, killing four people.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, who grew up in Kryvyi Rih, expressed his shock over the attack. He wrote on social media, confirming that at least five buildings were damaged in the latest missile strike. Zelensky also blamed Russia’s actions for continuing the violence, stating, “There is only one reason why this continues: Russia doesn’t want a ceasefire, and we see it.”

Kryvyi Rih is located about 40 miles (70 kilometers) from the front line in eastern Ukraine. It is known as the longest city in Europe. This attack marks another grim chapter in the ongoing conflict that has deeply affected the lives of the Ukrainian people.
