Robert Alai Shares Payslip to Refute Claims MCAs Earn KSh 700k Monthly Salary, Sparks Reactions
Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has shared his payslip to refute claims that Members of the County Assembly (MCA) earn KSh 700,000 monthly salary.
Alai was responding to a statement made concerning the doctors’ strike and the proposed remuneration for medical interns.
The statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) said that:
“It’s foolish, no, suicidal to pay your highly educated doctor KSh 70,000 and your semi-illiterate MCA KSh 700,000.”

In response to the statement, the Nairobi County MCA questioned the ignorance exhibited by the notion that MCAs are paid KSh 700,000.
“Where in the world is the MCA paid Ksh 700,000? You know why we have governance problem in Kenya? Middle class is too ignorant and foolish that they don’t care to even engage in basic research” Alai said on X.

Robert Alai shared his January payslip, which showed that he received a gross pay of KSh 186,648.
The payslip showed that he had a negative net pay due to various mandatory and voluntary deductions.
