Raila’s Fiery Remarks: Trolling Rigathi Gachagua and Senator Methu at Mukami Kimathi Funeral

On Saturday, May 13, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga mocked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Over a government directive regarding the state funeral of Mukami Kimathi.

Raila argued, while addressing the mourners in Nyandarua County. That Gachagua did not order the flags in the county to fly at half-staff, as is customary during state funerals.

On the other hand, he urged the government to fulfill Mukami’s final wish, which was to be reunited with her husband.

“Gachagua stated that there would be a state funeral, and I would like to remind the government that we do not fly flags at half-staff.

“She desired that her husband’s remains be removed from Kamiti Maximum Prison and brought to her on the day of her funeral. I hope the government will consider this,” Raila continued.

In addition, he conveyed the condolences of former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and party leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua.

“With me here are also the Jubilee secretary general, Jeremiah Kioni, and your (Mt Kenya) son, Maina Njega,” he said, avoiding addressing Njenga as the former Mungiki leader.

He then defended Azimio’s protests by comparing them to Mau Mau’s struggle for independence.

“There are two types of violence: oppressive violence, which the system employs against the people, and aggressive violence, which the people use to defend themselves from oppression.

“It is referred to as oppressive violence when the police eject innocent protesters. People who defend themselves with stones engage in aggressive violence. It is not equal, declared Raila.

In his address, the leader of the ODM referred to Ruto as his friend, not his brother, and referred to Gachagua, Mudavadi, and all other leaders as mourners.

In addition, he criticized Senator John Methu of Nyandarua for mocking his demands to access the election servers.

He declared that he would resolve his impasse with Ruto, whom he described as his friend.

“I hear the senator say he accessed the server. Who instructed him to do this? I have worked with William Ruto, and he is very familiar with me. We’ll speak with him (Ruto),” he declared.
