Raila & Uhuru Support Protestors with Ksh 2M Donation
On Friday, July 28, President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga each contributed Ksh1 million to the Citizens Emergency Fund launched by Azimio la Umoja.
During the memorial service conducted at the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka (SKM) Command Center in Karen, the leader of the Wiper Party, Kalonzo Musyoka, contributed Ksh500,000, and the former Defence Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, contributed Ksh200,000.
Kalonzo stated that the funds would be used to assist the families of demonstrators who lost their lives during the nationwide demonstrations of the opposition.
In addition, those who sustained injuries during the demonstrations in June and July of 2023 will be cared for.
At the memorial service, Azimio Members of Parliament contributed a total of Ksh1.5 million to the fund.
Regarding the outstanding medical bills of demonstrators admitted to hospitals, Azimio announced that some of its governors had waived the costs and pledged to consolidate additional aid for the protesters’ families.
Governors Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Wavinya Ndeti (Machakos), Simba Arati (Kisii), and Anyang Nyongo (Kisumu) were among those who supported the initiative through the waiver.

Regarding the opposition’s Tumechoka.com initiative, Kalonzo announced that 8.2 million Kenyans had signed a petition demanding Ruto’s removal from office.
Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc-Kenya party, missed the occasion because she was in Colombia for the International Women’s Conference.
Delegates will discuss the unique power of women, women’s health and performance in the evangelistic plan, communication and empathy with other cultures, and how to rehabilitate and love oneself at a conference also attended by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
On Sunday, July 30, Azimio La Umoja will issue further instructions regarding the protests.
