Raila Odinga to Aid Global Opposition in Safeguarding Votes
On Friday, June 23, the former prime minister of Kenya, Raila Odinga, was tasked with assisting world opposition leaders in developing election protection strategies.
In a program obtained by GossipA2Z, the former Polish prime minister shared his strategies with opposition leaders.
Moeketsi Majoro, the former prime minister of Lesotho, and John Githongo, the chief executive officer of Inuka Kenya, were among the other delegates who spoke about the security of votes.
In the 2022 General Election presidential petition, Raila Odinga’s ally and anti-corruption crusader Githongo was named as a whistleblower.
As the leaders discussed how to strengthen democracy, Adalberto Costa Junior, the leader of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola, also elaborated on the topic.
The two-day event with the theme “Rolling Back Authoritarianism” was organized by, among others, the European Solidarity Centre and the Brenthurst Foundation.
Organizers of the event that began on Thursday, June 22 explained that the conference’s purpose was to promote free elections and protect the rights of citizens.

“The “Rolling Back Authoritarianism” conference in Gdansk, Poland, will bring together African democracies and those who have managed to implement progressive reforms in their societies in Eastern Europe and the Baltics despite enormous obstacles.
Part of the program stated, “We are launching a discussion on how to strengthen democratic institutions and build inclusive economic growth, both of which are essential for progress.”
Other topics discussed at the Poland conference included how opposition parties would form domestic alliances, how to implement reforms, and how to form partnerships with like-minded world leaders.
The opposition leaders also reached an understanding of how to work together to ensure free and fair elections.
Other leaders present included former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Tanzanian President Tundu Lissu, former Ugandan President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine), and former Botswana President Ian Khama.
Winnie Odinga, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), accompanied her father, Raila Odinga, to the event.
Raila has been absent from public events for approximately ten days. Last seen on June 14 at a rally in Kibra.
According to reports, the ODM leader has returned from Poland and is expected to announce the new chairman of the Luo Council of Elders on Saturday, June 24.
Raila will also attend the upcoming June 27 mega rally at Kamukunji Grounds.
