Raila Odinga Joins Global Leaders at Opposition Conference in Poland
Former Kenyan prime minister Raila Odinga traveled to Poland to attend a conference of world leaders organized by opposition politicians.
Friday, June 23, Ugandan musician and opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine shared a photo of the former prime minister with his daughter Winnie Odinga.
Raila and Winnie were the keynote speakers at the ‘Rolling Back Authoritarianism-themed conference.

However, it was unclear when Raila left the country for the international conference preceding his June 27 mega rally at Kamukunji Grounds.
Winnie indicated, however, that the discussions centered on the opposition’s role in safeguarding democracy and the rights of citizens in their respective states.

“Today, in Gdansk, Poland, we met with opposition leaders and freedom fighters from all over the world for a roundtable discussion on the topic of “Rolling Back Authoritarianism.”
“It is always a pleasure to reconnect and assess the progress of the international fight for freedom and democracy. This is a battle we must win,” read a portion of the statement.
Longtime friend and former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo was also present at the event.
Raila’s last public appearance was on June 14, when he met with merchants at the incinerated Toi Market in Kibra.
On Thursday, June 22, he was conspicuously absent from the Azimio la Umoja press conference. Martha Karua, leader of the Narc Kenya Party, responded to a question about Raila’s whereabouts by stating that the ODM leader was abroad on a personal mission.
She did not disclose the country he visited nor his return date, but she did guarantee that he would attend the June 28 rally.
The opposition party announced at the press conference that a public engagement forum will be held to discuss the Finance Bill 2023 and the national budget.
