Former Kenyan prime minister Raila Odinga and his wife, Ida Odinga, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and Ida’s 73rd birthday in a grand manner at a private celebration attended by close friends, family, and celebrities.
The political couple celebrated their life’s accomplishments at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Westlands, Nairobi County.
As the star of the performance, Ida was given a hammer ride with her daughter Rosemary, son-in-law Raila Jr., granddaughter Winnie, and grandchildren.
Interestingly, the Odinga family was also celebrating Raila Jr.’s two-year-old child’s birthday.
To the occasion were invited, among others, the leader of the Narc Kenya Party, Martha Karua, the governor of Siaya, James Orengo, and the member of parliament for Likoni, Mishi Mboko.
Prince Indah and Esther Akoth (Akothee) were among the guest performers at the midnight-ending evening event.
According to the schedule, the event began at 6:30 p.m. and lasted until minutes after midnight. We incorporated various event segments, such as the birthday cake cutting, to commemorate the two anniversaries.
During the sincere speeches, the former prime minister eloquently described Ida as the true love of his life, wishing them many more years of happiness together.
With a melodious voice, the ODM leader serenaded his adored wife, expressing profound gratitude for her unwavering support as the family’s unwavering pillar for over half a century.
In a moving moment, Raila adorned the occasion with a rendition of the enduring Harry Belafonte song “Jamaican Farewell”
This touching tribute to his wife, a devoted devotee of the legendary singer, exemplified their everlasting love and shared passions.
“I am witnessing the birth of this infant, and you can see how lovely she is. Everyone can see that her smile remains intact. “In my previous life, I resided in Germany,” he explained.
The duo’s children, led by East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Winnie, presented their mother with Ksh1 million towards the Ksh350 million Ida Odinga Library being constructed at Ogande Girls in Homa Bay County.
