Raila Denies Azimio Collapse Rumors
On Monday, January 22, Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio coalition, denied allegations suggesting that the alliance is nearing a breakdown.
Addressing the audience in Lamu County, the ex-Prime Minister commented that the information published in regional newspapers was inaccurate and regrettable.
The information suggested that both the coalition and Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) were in disarray, with efforts to remove certain members, including Suna East MP Junet Mohammed.
“I want to dispel any rumor being spread by irresponsible media. There is no danger of Azimio collapsing any time soon,” he stated.
Raila commented that the coalition stayed united after the 2022 general election, except a small group of Members of Parliament who chose to collaborate with President William Ruto.
The leader of the opposing party expressed surprise upon reading the newspaper headline, as there was no significant discord within the coalition.
He urged Kenyan media to desist from spreading rumors.

“There may be sometimes disagreements of opinions on one issue or one another but that does not mean disintegration,” Raila assured his supporters.
The leader of Azimio clarified that despite facing defeat in the 2022 general election, the coalition remained steadfast and was progressing towards the goal of freeing the nation.
Raila stated that Azimio’s goal was to free the nation from what he characterized as oppression and lack of accountability.
Beforehand, Governor Abdulswamad of Mombasa had reassured the residents of Lamu that Azimio and ODM remained united.
On Sunday, numerous leaders from the ODM criticized the rumors suggesting that the party intended to take action against Junet Mohammed for his absence from important meetings.
Guided by ex-Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, they expressed that Junet had made significant contributions to ODM and Azimio, emphasizing that he deserved the party’s respect.
