President Ruto Urges Azimio to Spare Kenyans from Protests: “Give Them a Break!”
President William Ruto has cautioned the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition regarding Wednesday’s planned demonstrations, reiterating that the government will not tolerate violent protests of the type previously witnessed.
Ruto assured Kenyans on Tuesday, during the issuance of title deeds in Ruai, Embakasi East Constituency, that his administration would safeguard all citizens and that Wednesday would be a normal work day despite the planned demonstrations.
“No infant is born in Kenya for Maandamano or kazi ya kutupa mawe. I wish to assure you that tomorrow will be peaceful. Kila Mkenya ajipange aende kazini …kila mtu na hustling yake,” he stated.
“They demonstrated on Friday, resulting in the deaths of six Kenyans.” Do you want more demonstrations tomorrow, resulting in the deaths of more Kenyans? “No, it will not occur.”
President Ruto added, “It is not acceptable for a few individuals to believe they can destabilize the republic to cause chaos and property destruction. No form of politics results in loss of life; that is anarchy, which we will not tolerate. I will not permit another Kenyan to lose his or her life so that someone else can realize an impossible political goal.”

The president accused the opposition of attempting to sabotage his leadership, adding that the opposition leaders were envious of his plan to reduce unemployment and did not want him to succeed.
According to the chief of state, his plans to revitalize the economy and create millions of jobs pose a threat to the leaders of the Opposition, as they will have fewer young people to join their protests.
“Hawa jamaa wa maandamano wamekasirika na mimi ati mimi nataka nichukue vijana wengi zaidi niwapeleke kazini watakosa watu wa maandamano na kutupa mawe,” he stated.
Please grant the Kenyan people and youth a reprieve. You cannot sabotage our plan to create one million employment for young people through our housing, digital, agro-processing, value addition, and manufacturing programs. I will not permit you to undermine because you have done so for so many years…you will fail this year.”
Chief of the Azimio tribe, Raila Odinga, gathered his supporters at the Kamukunji Grounds on Friday and subsequently announced more aggressive protests on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
