President Ruto Now Turns Guns On Judiciary, Says Corrupt Judges ‘Must Leave’

The fight against corruption that President William Ruto has been waging is now being directed at the Judiciary. He has issued a stern warning to certain court employees who, in his view, are complicit in a larger-scale corruption operation.

The President accused certain judges, although he did not name them, had making the courts into a sanctuary for dishonest people.

“There are judicial officers who are part of the system of corruption that is why only specific judges handle corruption cases,” he said.

The Head of State believes that the judges serving on the anti-corruption court have become the weakest link in the chain in the fight against graft.

He claims that they are conspiring with people who commit economic crimes rather than moving their cases along more quickly, and he accuses them of this.

According to President Ruto, anonymous judges are providing defendants with stay orders and extending the length of their proceedings.

“You find a judge giving funny stay orders to a corruption case…someone who has stolen public money,” the President noted.

He promised that his administration would put an end to the corruption operation, which he claimed included participants from the corporate sector, government parastatals, and county governments among its criminal network.

“This is a whole enterprise…it is a whole system and we have said it has individuals from across the sectors…your time is up… pia nyinyi mtahama,” he stated.

In the past year, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has presented before the court that there is insufficient evidence to prosecute the suspects in several high-profile corruption cases, which has resulted in the charges being withdrawn.
