On Saturday, two people were injured at a funeral in Rapogi, Migori County when conflict broke out between two competing political factions.
The altercation occurred between groups supporting Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko and Uriri Member of Parliament Mark Nyamita.

The burial site became a battlefield as the two groups clashed despite police efforts to restore order.
Governor Ayacko spoke to the media, criticizing the incident and labeling it as unfortunate.
He accused MP Nyamita of provoking the violence in his area.
“I condemn these unscrupulous politicians who equate politics with violence and see the police as part of their local thugs,” Ayacko stated.
“We are not intimidated by anyone; we are only committed to being orderly citizens,” the governor said.
In response, Nyamita blamed Governor Ayacko for starting the conflict by instructing his security team to act violently against him.
Nyamita claimed the governor’s security not only shot at him but also at a police vehicle, nearly injuring an officer.
