Police Update: No Items Sought in New Search of River Wyre for Mum Mystery
The NICOLA Bulley police have refuted claims that they are searching for a particular object in the river where the deceased mother was discovered.
This week, specialized divers were observed searching the River Wyre to determine the cause of her death.
The body of Nicola was discovered in the river on February 20, three weeks after her disappearance.
Today, Lancashire Police debunked the rumor that officers were searching for a particular item in the water.
A statement stated, “There has been misinformed speculation regarding police activity in the River Wyre over the past few days.
“As stated previously, police divers were tasked by HM Senior Coroner with assessing the riverbanks near where Nicola Bulley went missing.
“They were not instructed to conduct any additional searches within the river or along its banks or to locate any objects. This activity will aid in the coroner’s investigation.”
Dr. James Adeley, HM Senior Coroner, added: “Speculation as to the role and purpose of officers acting on my instructions is unhelpful to the resolution of this inquest.”

On Monday, June 26, an inquest into Nicola’s death will be held at County Hall in Preston.
Nicola was discovered 23 days after her disappearance on the banks of the River Wyre.
Two dog walkers discovered her less than a mile from her last known location.
Before the opening and adjournment of an investigation into her death, it was determined that she must be identified by dental records.
Police conducted a “hugely complex and highly emotional” search for Nicola, but were unable to locate her.
The police were also criticized for disclosing painfully personal information about Nicola’s struggles with alcoholism and menopause.
They confirmed that she possessed “vulnerabilities” at the time of her disappearance and was a high-risk missing individual.
The police watchdog has launched an investigation into a “welfare check” conducted at Nicola’s residence days before her disappearance.
No arrests were made about the incident.
