Police Rescue Ambassadors Trapped Inside Nairobi Hotel After Residents’ Complaints

On Saturday night, the government had to send anti-terror law enforcement officers to save multiple foreign ambassadors who were stuck in a Nairobi hotel.

As per a press release from an individual presumed to be the proprietor, the ambassadors found themselves confined within the hotel when locals blocked the entrance in protest of continual noise disturbance originating from the establishment.

The assertion suggested that issues arose on Saturday evening when a resident, supported by fellow residents, independently intervened and obstructed the entrance, resulting in a clash with the hotel’s management.

“My son told me that it was all noise throughout the night. My neighbor also complained that the child was sick and had been crying all night and was affected by the noise,” one tenant complained during the confrontation.

Aware of the delicate nature of the ambassadors’ duties, the government sent specialized police teams from the anti-terror unit to ensure the safety of the envoys.

“This blockade not only endangered the lives of our esteemed guests but also posed a severe security threat, given the high profile nature of the attendees, read part of the statement from the hotel.

The envoys were attending a function hosted at the facility.

The authorities also took off the license plates from certain vehicles owned by the important individuals.

Moreover, management expressed concerns that the dignitaries remained in a state of shock for an extended period. They issued apologies to the impacted dignitaries and residents, pledging to follow noise control guidelines in the future.

“Our full cooperation with law enforcement continues as we strive to bolster our security measures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all who step through our doors,” the management added.

To manage the noise levels generated by hotels and clubs in the city, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja revealed intentions to allocate specific zones for these establishments.

In 2022, Sakaja took action to shut down clubs located in Nairobi neighborhoods and prohibited venues from playing loud music after 10 pm. He mandated that bars and restaurants situated in residential zones adhere to specific operating hours.

“Henceforth, nightclub licenses will be issued to premises within the Central Business District and specified streets in other non-residential areas,” he declared.
