Police are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a Nairobi-based businessman with Indian heritage. His body was discovered inside his car, which had been abandoned on Sunday morning.

Identified as Somesh Ramesh, the businessman is believed to have met his demise on Saturday night, with perpetrators subsequently depositing his body in Nyari estate.

He was found bundled in the front seat of his vehicle, which had been driven into a nearby ditch.

Initial accounts of the incident suggest that security guards, suspecting an accident, alerted the authorities upon discovering the vehicle in the ditch.

Early investigations by law enforcement suggest that the scene was staged to resemble an accident. However, this narrative has been refuted due to the presence of stab wounds on the victim’s chest and thigh areas.

Furthermore, it was noted that the assailants had unsuccessfully attempted to set fire to the car. Prior to the incident, Somesh had reportedly received a call from an unidentified individual.

His body has been transferred to a private morgue in the city, pending a post-mortem examination. The circumstances surrounding his demise remain murky, with investigations ongoing.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first instance of a person of Indian descent being targeted in a perplexing murder case. In February 2024, businessman Jayesh Kumar Kanj was assassinated by assailants while engaged in a land transaction in Kitui.

Allegedly, three assailants ambushed him, striking him on the head with a blunt object before disrobing him and dousing his body in acid.
