Police Explain Reasons for New Search of River Where Mother’s Body Was Found

Lancashire Police have explained why they were seen searching the River Wyre where Nicola Bulley’s body was discovered weeks after she vanished during a January dog walk.

Lancashire Police have explained why they were observed searching the River Wyre near the location where the body of Nicola Bulley was discovered.

The 45-year-old mortgage adviser was seen walking Willow near the river in St. Michael on Wyre, Lancashire, on January 27.

Police, firefighters, mountain rescue, underwater teams, and locals searched the river to the coast for her.

Tragically, her body was discovered on February 19, less than a mile from where she disappeared.

After weeks of searching the river for the mother of two, specialized divers are now back in the same area.

Divers responded to a tip from two walkers on February 19 as a police helicopter and drones circled overhead.

It raised the question of how she was discovered in a thoroughly searched area.

On February 22, her death inquest revealed that Nicola’s dental records were used to identify her body.

The next inquest hearing into her death will be held at County Hall in Preston on Monday, June 26.

The HM Coroner has sent specialist divers to search the River Wyre for Nicola’s cause of death.

A spokesman for HM Coroner told the Lancashire Post, “The investigation will take time to complete so that the inquest is presented with as complete a picture of the facts surrounding Ms. Bulley’s death as possible.”

This will help the family understand what transpired.

“As part of this procedure, HM Senior Coroner has requested that Lancashire Constabulary produce information gathered during the search for Ms. Bulley so that it can be evaluated as part of the investigation.”

A police spokesman added, “We can confirm that we are carrying out work at the request of Her Majesty’s Coroner.”

The family of Nicola was not present at the opening of the inquest last month.

During the inquest’s opening, senior coroner Dr. James Adeley said he had contacted consultant maxillofacial surgeon Ian Edwards to compare police dental records from Great Eccleston Dental Surgery.

Dr. Adeley reported that the surgeon found the restoration work to be identical.

He stated, “I am satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that identification has been made.”

Her phone was discovered on a bench near the water’s edge and was connected to a work call, which captivated the nation. Willow, her dog, was also discovered nearby.

Police, firefighters, mountain rescue, underwater teams, and community members searched from river to coast.

Peter Faulding’s sonar search also got him removed from the NCA’s list of experts.

As armchair detectives flocked to the area, the case sparked a great deal of harmful online speculation.

A no-fly zone was established over the church for her funeral last month to prevent sick internet sleuths from filming it.
