Police Clash with Kisii Youth at Ruto Event

On March 24, a group of unruly young people attempted to enter the homecoming event of Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu in Kisii County, prompting police officers to take action.

The incident occurred shortly after President William Ruto and other high-ranking officials arrived at the venue in Gesusu Ward at Nyaribari Masaba Sub-County.

During the altercation, the young people engaged in running battles with officers, resulting in seats and part of the main event’s seating arrangement being cluttered.

Despite this, the officers were able to contain the situation without interrupting the main event.

In the meantime, the event organizers continued with a praise and worship session and other salutations to the guests in attendance.

Machogu’s homecoming was part of President Ruto’s itinerary during his three-day visit to Kisii and Nyamira counties.

Machogu had previously sent out invitations to the interdenominational thanksgiving service, stating that he would be hosting President Ruto at the Getacho primary grounds.

The incident did not disrupt the main event, and it proceeded smoothly.

The police officers’ quick action was crucial in containing the situation, and the event was a success with attendees enjoying the festivities.

Overall, the incident was handled well, and the organizers and officers are to be commended for their quick response in ensuring the safety of those in attendance.
