On Tuesday, May 2, there was a commotion outside of Shanzu Law Courts in Mombasa. This was a result of the presence of hundreds of followers of Pastor Ezekiel Odero who had crowded the premises.

They demonstrated their disapproval of the arrest by praying and making appeals for Pastor Gillack Odero’s release, and they were led in this activity by his assistant, who is also his brother.

On Tuesday, May 2, pastors Ezekiel Odero and Paul Mackenzie were scheduled to appear before the Shanzu Law courts to answer charges of inciting violent extremism, terrorism, assisting individuals in committing suicide, participating in mass murder, and money laundering.

Gillack would wave a Bible. Ask the crowd to give praise to God and charge the crowd once more. Whenever the tempo began to slow down.

Following the opening of an investigation into Ezekiel’s possible role in the Shakahola Massacre by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), he was taken into custody on Thursday, April 27.

Kithure Kindiki, the Cabinet Secretary of the Interior, made the announcement shortly after the popular televangelist was taken into custody that he would be charged with the murder of multiple people.

“It is notified for the information of the general public that today, Thursday, April 27, 2023. Mr. Ezekiel Ombok Odero, the Head of New Life Prayer Centre/Church at Mavueni within Malindi Sub-County of Kilifi County. Has been arrested.
