ODM Rebels Defy Warnings, Embrace Ruto at Omollo Event
Some presumed ODM rebels from Luo Nyanza accompanied President William Ruto in Karachuonyo for the homecoming ceremony of PS for Interior Raymond Omollo.
The ODM representatives witnessed the ceremony to demonstrate their support for President Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza administration.
Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Paul Abuor (Rongo), Felix Odiwuor (Lang’ata), Tom Ojienda (Kisumu), and Mark Nyamita (Uriri) were among the members of parliament.
Ochanda advised the Luo community to embrace the Kenya Kwanza government to revitalize the regional economy.
He requested that President Ruto continue working with the people from the region, despite the majority of them supporting Raila Odinga as leader of the ODM.
“Help us revive the economy of Nyanza so that our people can realize development,” Ochanda said.
In his criticism of ODM leadership, Ochanda stated that the community had unsuccessfully sought the presidency.
“Let’s accept that we’ve lost and work with the government for a better future,” he said.
Caroli stated that some development initiatives in Luo Nyanza need to be revived. He argued that the national government could implement the initiatives.

“The purpose of the development projects is to help our community develop economically,” said Caroli.
Odiwuor, Odhiambo, and Nyamita reported receiving letters summoning them to appear before the ODM party’s disciplinary committee for visiting the State House and agreeing to work with the government.
In Homa Bay, Odiwuor requested that President Ruto consider reviving the fish factory and constructing a pineapple factory.
He insisted that he will continue to collaborate with the Kenya Kwanza government for the people’s benefit.
“Having grown up as a fisherman in Homa Bay, I recognize the significance of a fish factory in this region. “Development is what our people want,” he said.
Ojienda stated that they have the constitutional right to collaborate with the government for the development of their constituents.
The senator from Kisumu requested that the government expedite bringing peace to the two communities in Sondu town that are at odds over boundary disputes.
“Leaders are entrusted to advance the interests of the populace. Ojienda stated, “We will continue to work with you to restore peace in the town of Sondu.”
On Friday, Kasupil MP Ong’ondo Were, who is also the secretary of ODM in Homa Bay, requested that leaders refrain from attending.

Arguments were made that they do not recognize Ruto as president and that the meeting was private.
“ODM executives are not involved in the occasion. We do not interfere with the private affairs of individuals,” said Were.
Vice President Rigathi Gachagua, who was present, described Omollo as a humble and focused individual who possesses the knowledge and capacity to transform the sector.
He stated that the president made the correct choice in selecting Omollo for the case.
“Omollo is unique compared to his predecessors. Hana kiburi na ukubwa na hangonanishi watu,” Gachagua.
President Ruto stated at the event that he is visiting the Nyanza region to dispel the notion that heads of state only visit and invest in development in areas where they received a majority of the vote.
“Even Raymond Omollo was selected intentionally. Ruto stated, “I wanted to dispel the myth that there are positions reserved for specific communities and people.”
