The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) is grieving the loss of its dedicated member and former Chepchoina Ward candidate Evelyn Sinjo, who died on the morning of Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Until her passing, Sinjo was a devoted supporter of the party led by Raila Odinga. According to a statement from ODM, Sinjo passed away while participating in a farmers’ training event in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The party expressed its condolences in an official statement, acknowledging Sinjo’s unparalleled loyalty to ODM.

โ€œWe extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Evelyn Sinjo, a steadfast member of our party. We offer our prayers and support to her family during this challenging time,โ€ the tweet read.

    ODM Faces Another Loss

Sinjo’s death follows the recent loss of another key supporter from the Coast, Fatuma Juma Meri, who died after a brief illness at Pwani Hospital where she was receiving care.

Fatuma served as the County Office Administrator for ODM in Kwale and was actively involved in promoting women’s initiatives through the ODM League Msambweni Branch.

In 2023, ODM also mourned the death of Joseph Misoi, one of the party’s co-founders and the longest-serving member of the National Elections Board. Misoi was a former Eldoret South Member of Parliament.

That same year, the party lost Simeon Amukhula, an official stationed in Navakholo, Kakamega County.

Additionally, in November 2023, ODM was in mourning following the death of Godliver Omondi, a nominated MCA from Kholera Ward in Kakamega County, who passed away while receiving treatment in Kisumu.
