NTSA Shutters 64 Saccos for Safety Violations

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has canceled the licenses of 64 transport companies for failing to comply with regulations.

The NTSA announced the suspensions through a notice published on Thursday, May 2, by the Authority’s Director General George Njao.

Affected companies include Mbukinya Success, Welkan 48 Travellers Sacco, and Moline Safaris, among others.

“Members of the public are advised not to use vehicles from these companies to avoid potential issues.

“The National Police Service (NPS) has been instructed to seize any vehicles from these 64 companies operating against the suspension,” NTSA stated.

This suspension follows the recent directive by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to suspend licenses of Public service vehicles (PSVs) that do not adhere to various operational rules and guidelines.

“Transport operators failing to meet the minimum requirements of the PSV Regulations 2014, such as maintaining a certain number of serviceable vehicles, and complying with road service licenses, inspection certificates, and PSV licenses, are suspended,” the CS had previously directed.
