Nimrod Mbai Home Raided After Assault on Kenya Power Engineer

On Tuesday, July 4, police officers from Kitengela conducted a search warrant at the residence of Nimrod Mbai, a member of parliament for Kitui East, after he assaulted a Kenya Power engineer.

In an operation conducted by Kenya Power officials, utility company property was recovered from the construction site. The recovered items included cables and a meter box.

At the time of the raid, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) member of parliament was reportedly in Nairobi, according to reports.

However, two of the MP’s aides were arrested after Kenya Power determined that the electricity was illegally connected.

Officer Peter Kathusia of the utility company reaffirmed the company’s commitment to safety. After conducting excavations to recover the illegally installed cables, the company reached this conclusion.

Additionally, we will remove the entire power line. Such an illegal power line constitutes a time bomb for the house’s occupants, according to the official.

In contrast, the head of the Isinya Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Benjamin Ndebai. Disclosed that the assaulted Kenya Power engineer had filed a report at their station.

As he was captured on camera attempting to reach for his gun. The lawmaker is also the subject of a firearms investigation.

In the meantime, the police are under increasing pressure to arrest the lawmaker, with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) calling for the confiscation of his firearm.

In the widely-circulated viral video, the lawmaker is heard claiming that removing poles and cables from his residence is illegal and against President William Ruto’s directive.
