New Push to Create Position for Kalonzo in Kenya Kwanza Govt
Tongaren Member of Parliament John Chakati, affiliated with the FORD-Kenya Party under the Kenya Kwanza coalition, has urged President William Ruto to offer a position within the Kenya Kwanza administration to Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper Party.
During a morning interview, Chakati, the Secretary General of Ford-Kenya, expressed the view that Kalonzo might lack the ability to lead the opposition after Azimio leader Raila Odinga leaves the political stage.
Chakati strongly recommended to the President that a role be created for Kalonzo, emphasizing that the leader of the Wiper Party is more fitting for a government position rather than being part of the opposition.
“The blood of KANU runs in him, the blood of diplomacy, the blood of government. He is a person of diplomacy, decision-making, and managing affairs,” explained the MP.
The Member of Parliament asserted that Kalonzo might face challenges in leading the opposition because he has previously avoided expressing clear opinions on contentious issues.
“The opposition does not run in Kalonzo’s blood. Kalonzo does not know how to oppose anything, he is where he is because of circumstances, and he is not enjoying,” elaborated Chakati.

In the meantime, Kalonzo has announced his desire to take charge of the Azimio alliance following the anticipated withdrawal of opposition leader Raila Odinga from active political involvement, as Odinga pursues the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
“With the exit of Raila, if he has to exit politics, I do not see Kalonzo being able to step into his shoes even 15% stated,” the MP.
At a political event in Homa Bay County last Wednesday, Kalonzo emphasized his readiness to assume leadership, asserting that he is the ideal candidate to succeed Raila.
“If you are missing Baba, there is Uncle Stevo, “I hope I am convincing you that there is absolutely no need for fear,” stated Kalonzo during the conference.
Nevertheless, the potential departure of Azimio’s key figure from the political stage could face a setback, as Raila has declared that he has no plans to step down.
Raila asserts that securing the esteemed A.U. position will not prevent him from continuing to actively participate in Kenya’s politics. He emphasizes that even in this role, he remains committed to pursuing his presidential candidacy in 2027.
