Nakuru Man Dies After Acid Attack by Wife Amid Domestic Dispute
A man from Nakuru lost his life after an acid attack by his wife on Thursday, December 5.
The 52-year-old victim was assaulted during the early hours of the morning by his second wife following a heated domestic dispute.
Neighbors, alarmed by a loud argument around 6:00 am, rushed to his aid after hearing his cries for help.
“I found him crying on the couch, saying he was dying. His dark skin had turned pink. His two children informed me that acid had been poured on him,” one neighbor recounted.
Despite being quickly taken to Nakuru Level Five Hospital, the victim succumbed to severe internal and external injuries shortly after arriving.
Local chief Vincent Siro confirmed the incident, revealing that the wife initially claimed someone else was responsible. This assertion was dismissed following early investigations.
“A highly corrosive substance was poured on the mattress. We recovered a container containing the acid. The suspect’s son was also arrested for tampering with evidence by removing and hiding the bedding,” Siro stated.
The victim’s eldest daughter shared that her father recounted the incident to her at the hospital. He said his stepmother had risen at 5:00 am, loudly inspecting his documents, before returning with what appeared to be a jerrican of water. He realized it contained acid only when it was poured on him.

She also disclosed that this was not the first life-threatening incident involving their stepmother. The stepmother had previously restricted the children from speaking to their father.
“Our father even devised a coded message to signal that he couldn’t speak freely on the phone because our stepmother warned him against communicating with us,” she added.
The victim’s brother noted the wife’s suspicious behavior at the hospital. He described how she left abruptly, leaving her husband in agony, and returned home to collect his phone and documents.
The brother further claimed she tried unsuccessfully to withdraw money from her husband’s mobile account, locking it after three failed PIN attempts. Additionally, two title deeds were reported missing.
After contacting the Kaptembwo Police Station to report the attack, the brother identified the wife as the prime suspect.
The woman was later arrested after presenting herself at the police station to give a statement.
