NACADA Sets Maximum Licence Fee on Alcohol Trade at Ksh1 Million

Wednesday, the National Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) declared that the utmost licensing fee for the alcohol trade would be Ksh1 million.

As per the directive of the governing body, all enterprises involved in the importation or exportation of intoxicating beverages in Kenya are obligated to remit this license fee.

NACADA announced in a statement that it had assumed the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee’s licensing responsibilities.

โ€œFees payable are according to the volumes intended to be imported or exported in the coming period of twelve months,โ€ the statement read in part.

Traders who engage in the import or export of one million liters will be obligated to remit an annual licensing fee of KSF1 million.

The licensing fee for volumes ranging from 500,000 liters to 999,999 liters is Ksh5,000,000. For volumes falling below this threshold, the charge is Ksh250,000.

The certificate is expected to be processed within fourteen days of the application being submitted, per NACADA.

Application Procedure for an Alcohol Licence in Kenya

Applicants who are interested in participating are required to obtain an Application Form from the NACADA website and formally submit it to the designated reception officer located within the legal department.

Subsequently, the NACADA Licencing Committee will convene to deliberate on the eligibility of an applicant for an import/export license.

Upon receiving approval from the committee, the applicant will be demanded to remit the necessary license fees.

โ€œOnly the applicants who have been approved and communicated to as such will be requested to pay the license fees,โ€ traders were told.

โ€œOnce the license is ready for collection, the applicant shall be informed, upon which the same may be picked from the NACADA offices.โ€
