Moranga Morekwa, the Deputy Commissioner of Mbita Sub-County, was discovered deceased in his residence in Mbita town, Homa Bay County, on Monday, April 1st.

After his enigmatic passing, authorities in Homa Bay initiated an investigation to uncover the underlying circumstances of his death, which has sparked curiosity.

He passed away shortly after spearheading a crackdown on the illegal alcohol trade in the area, resulting in the apprehension of multiple suspects.

In discussing the tragedy, the Homa Bay county commissioner remarked that Morekwa’s passing was unexpected, given that his deputy displayed no indications of being unwell.

Millie Odhiambo, the Member of Parliament for Mbita, expressed her condolences for the officer’s passing, highlighting the significant role the security chief played in enhancing security both around the general area and the lake.

Millie stated that Morekwa played a significant role in eliminating the sexual exploitation of young girls in both Mbita and Homa Bay Counties.

Morekwa’s remains were transported to the Kirindo MED 25 mortuary situated within the Kirindo trading center in the Suba North constituency, where they are pending a postmortem examination.

Three days following the discovery of a police constable’s body at his residence, new updates have emerged, suggesting that the officer may have taken his own life.

As per reports from authorities at Umande Police Station, it is claimed that the individual who passed away purportedly inflicted a gunshot wound to his chin, resulting in the bullet exiting through his left ear.

During the house interrogation, police discovered a G3 rifle and approximately 19 rounds of ammunition. Authorities suggested the potential of the officer employing the rifle for self-inflicted harm.

The deceased’s body was transferred to Laikipia Referral Hospital, where it will undergo a postmortem examination.
