Murkomen’s Startling Warning to Cabinet Colleagues Following Ruto’s Abrupt Termination

President Ruto’s dismissal of Health Principal Secretary Josephine Mburu caught everyone by surprise, and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen disclosed on Saturday, May 20 that he was compelled to convene a meeting to chart the way forward.

In his address to the residents of Nyandarua, the CS recalled summoning his Transport colleagues and warning them of an impending threat.

Murkomen recalled warning them of job loss if they failed to close all loopholes in the industry.

After the meeting, the Ministry decided to terminate the contracts of all employees and contractors who sabotaged or misappropriated funds.

Murkomen recalled conveying a similar warning to his Cabinet colleagues, informing them that the president had cracked the whip.

“It is preferable for us to sink a contractor than for you to sink us, as we have observed that you have become harsher than when we first met you. Murkomen recalled saying to his friends, “There is imminent danger based on the way this person is speaking.”

“Therefore, I called PS Mbugua and Mohammed and asked them about the recent words you uttered. Do you want us to leave or do you want other individuals to leave?” So, if we make a mistake, we will send our subordinates home so that we don’t get fired,” he continued.

Nonetheless, he assured President Ruto that his Ministry had implemented safeguards to ensure that no funds are misappropriated.

“We will ensure that not a single penny is misappropriated to eradicate corruption from the Ministry of Roads. We have no qualms about canceling those contracts and re-advertising if we find a competent contractor, he insisted.

Ruto terminated PS Mburu over the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority’s (KEMSA) mosquito net procurement tender.

Ruto suspended 27 government officials following the release of sugar that was deemed to be illegal to assert more authority.

The director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards, Bernard Njiriani, was one of the officials sent home by Ruto.

“Given the unique mandate of the agencies as guardians of public health and safety, it is evident that some officers in the relevant agencies abdicated their responsibilities, putting the public at risk of harm.

“Consequently, it is noted that the Cabinet Secretaries for National Treasury and Economic Planning, and Investments, Trade, and Industry, have sanctioned administrative action to suspend the officers pending investigations,” Ruto’s Chief of Staff, Felix Koskei, said.

During the Cabinet meeting, Ruto issued a stern warning to the Cabinet Secretaries. Promising to punish even his closest allies if they attempted to undermine his agenda.
