Murkomen Sparks Outrage: ‘No Kenyan Killed by Police,’ He Claims
Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has angered many with his remarks about police killings.
Why did Murkomen upset Kenyans?
While speaking at a public event, Murkomen stated that the government is committed to protecting its citizens.
“It’s our responsibility to keep the country and its people safe,” he said.
He then defended President William Ruto’s administration against claims that it uses security forces to silence its critics.
“Since Ruto took office, no citizen has been killed by the police. There’s no policy of killing people like in the previous government. No one has been killed under the guise of seeking justice,” Murkomen added.
He also urged Kenyans to praise the president rather than criticize him.
“Instead of celebrating his progress, we blame him for things that aren’t his fault. People should report their missing loved ones, and the ministry will work with the police to help find them,” he said.
