Murkomen Is Clueless- Cherargei Escalates Fallout With CS

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has accused Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen of displaying incompetence as the rift between the two leaders continues to widen.

Addressing the press on Monday, Cherargei claimed that the CS was clueless about his job description and accused of politicking instead of delivering on his mandate.

He highlighted Sunday night’s blackout at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the third since August, as proof that the CS had failed to deliver and instead threatened to file a lawsuit against him.

“Instead of having the energy to take me to court, he should use the same energy to fix the leaking roof and standby generators at JKIA. He is no longer a national embarrassment, he is an embarrassment to himself by the level of incompetence we have seen in recent times,” stated Cherargei.

“Maybe we don’t know his expertise. I think his expertise in insulting and belittling leaders like me but the expertise where is needed, I think he is clueless in terms of what needs to be done in most of the sectors.”

Hours after the 15-minute blackout affected service delivery at two of the busiest terminals of the airport, Murkomen indicated that he had dropped in the police service for investigations claiming sabotage.

In a statement, Murkomen had issued an apology over the outage and promised action after assessing the situation at the airport.

“Considering the frequency of the power disruption, and taking into account the fact that JKIA is a facility of strategic national importance, we are making a formal request to the National Police Service to investigate possible acts of sabotage and coverup,” Murkomen stated.

Cherargei, however, rubbished the justification arguing that the service delivery was straightforward in repairing the generators.

“Murkomen is blaming KAA and saying there’s sabotage for DCI to investigate, I don’t know what investigation you should do to a generator that was installed and you just press the buttons for switching on and off or just set a timer?” He questioned.

“If Murkomen forms a committee to look into non-working standby generators, then he will have to compile United Nations and African Union to fix the roads.”

The two leaders have been at loggerheads since last month when Cherargei, at a press conference, alleged that Murkomen was given a USD100 million (Ksh17 billion) bribe while on tour in China.

According to Cherargei who at one time wanted Murkomen fired, the bribe was issued between June and October leading to a rivalry that spilled all over social media further straining their relationship.

Murkomen, however, denied the allegations and issued a seven-day ultimatum to the senator to apologize or face off in court.
